The 2012 Texas Retail Survey provides updated performance rankings & analysis for each local retail market in the State of Texas. The 2012 edition includes 16 unique market rankings that make it easy to identify the best performing areas in the state, based on both short-term & long-term growth rates.
Using new data from the 2012 Texas Retail Survey, we've prepared a ranking of retail market size for the state's 50 largest county markets. Using 2011 retail sales data for each Texas county, each county is ranked by retail sales, and the top 50 markets are included in the table to the left.
These 50 largest markets represent over $228 billion in annual retail sales, and about 87% of Texas' annual retail sales.
The Leaders
Each of the top six markets have annual retail sales in excess of $10 billion. Harris County led the list with annual retail sales of $44.1 billion, followed by Dallas County, Tarrant County, Bexar County, and Travis County.
Of these 50 largest retail markets, forty realized retail sales above $1 billion. For a complete list of these 50 markets and their annual retail sales, please refer to the table to the left.
